How is Inspire different from my current utility company?

Many power companies connect you with energy sourced from fossil fuels, like natural gas and coal, that have to be burned to generate energy. But the burning of these fossil fuels adds harmful emissions into the atmosphere, which contributes to the effects of climate change. 


When you choose Inspire Clean Energy, we match your energy usage with renewable energy sources like wind and solar, so you can rest easy knowing you’re helping avoid carbon emissions and getting closer to achieving a net-zero carbon home. 


When you sign up for one of our retail electricity supply plans provided by Inspire Energy Holdings, LLC, Inspire becomes your electricity supplier. You’ll still pay your utility company directly as usual—the only difference is that you’ll see Inspire listed as your electricity supplier under the "supply" or “generation” section of your bill. This section is often listed after your distribution charges, which your utility still controls. If you have trouble finding Inspire on your next utility bill or have questions about how billing works on your specific plan, feel free to reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to walk you through it!


In all cases, your local utility company will still be responsible for delivering energy to your home and handling any service interruptions.

We offer two types of plans for your home’s electricity supply depending on your location and needs. Our Subscription Plans offer peace of mind, cost control, and the ability to budget via a flat monthly subscription rate for electricity supply no matter how much electricity your home needs. Our Per kWh Plans provide protection from market fluctuations by guaranteeing the rate for each kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity used remains constant. Please keep in mind that your monthly electricity bill may still vary based on the actual amount of electricity used. 


In deregulated states, we offer our energy services through our licensed electricity supplier, Inspire Energy Holdings, LLC (DC Dkt # EA2019-10, DE Dkt # 19-2018, IL Dkt # 17-0083, MA License # CS-117, MD License # IR-3295, NJ License # ESL-0156, Licensed by the NY PSC, OH Certificate # 15-963E(3), PA License # A-2013-237-6082).

How do I sign up?

Signing up for an Inspire clean energy plan is easy and only takes a few minutes. If you'd like to sign up online, simply follow the steps below. Otherwise, you can call us toll-free at (866) 937-5207 and we’ll walk you through the plan options available in your area.


  1. Simply follow this link and enter your home’s address. 
  2. You’ll receive a customized quote for your 100% clean energy plan.
  3. Then, you can enroll in minutes by entering a few more details, like your name and utility account number. Once you sign up, we take care of all the details and send you a copy of your service agreement via email or mail. We will also notify your local utility about your request to switch.

After I sign up for Inspire, what will happen to my utility service?

Once you sign up for a clean energy plan with Inspire, we’ll take care of all the details for you to make sure your switch is simple and seamless. Inspire works alongside your utility to ensure a smooth transition to Inspire with no disruption to your service.


With our retail electricity supply plans, your utility company will continue to manage the billing experience and you will continue to pay your utility each month.

How does your clean energy plan work?

By connecting to the local energy grid, the electricity you receive comes from a mix of energy sources. You will not receive electricity from any specific generation facility delivered directly to your service address. However, Inspire ensures that 100% of your electricity consumption is sourced from clean energy generation facilities or otherwise paired with renewable Energy Certificates ("RECs") from generation facilities located in the U.S. By purchasing RECs to match your electricity usage and retiring them in a generation attribute tracking system, we enable you to directly support the continued use and development of clean electricity. Increased demand for, and generation of, clean electricity helps reduce carbon emissions and provides other local and global environmental benefits in the region where the clean electricity generator is located.

When should I expect Inspire to begin service?
